OCEARCH reported that Contender, the biggest great white shark tagged in the program at 1,600 pounds, has entered Newfoundland waters. This is the first time a tagged shark from the program has swum into those waters. Contender is the biggest shark OCEARCH has ever tagged.

In a separate incident, a surfer was bitten by a shark at Glenfield Beach in Western Australia. Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart said "My heart stopped" as she shared new details about the incident. Scientists also described discovering the largest shark known.
