Meta has agreed to hand over up to 18 billion US dollars to settle actions brought by US states regarding social media addiction and harms to children.
The historic agreement resolves legal claims from California and other states concerning teen addiction across its online services.
Under the terms of the settlement, Meta also committed to significant reform measures on Facebook and Instagram. This deal resolves ongoing legal proceedings in the United States tied to online risks to children and teens.
