Preston North End has fired head coach Paul Heckingbottom. The club confirmed his departure on Sunday. Preston is sitting in the bottom three of the Championship after losing six of its first seven games in the current league schedule. Heckingbottom was hired at Preston last year. He had previously managed Sheffield United. The team will turn to a Premier League cult hero as interim manager. The decision arrives after a poor start to the campaign.
