Red Lobster is closing 163 of its restaurants. The chain has been around for 58 years. This is part of a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains at the moment.

A few locations are already confirmed. The Palm Desert, California store got the news on a Monday. The Springfield branch will close as well. The company hasn't put out a full list yet, and they haven't said when all the shutdowns will wrap up. The closures were reported on 30 August 2026. Diners nationwide are affected.
