The ICC has fined Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka player Asitha Fernando 25 per cent of their match fees after a confrontational dispute on the field. The incident took place on 24 August 2026 during the Test match in Colombo. During the fixture, Jaiswal struck Fernando with his head while on the pitch, drawing swift action from match officials. Both Cricinfo and the ICC verified the fines issued to the players for inappropriate behaviour.
Following the ruling, Jaiswal accepted the sanction but maintained his position. He stated that he acted appropriately during the pitch argument. Speaking to Indulge Express, he stressed that India would continue to compete fiercely in their upcoming fixtures despite the recent clash.
